Gallery Stratford always welcomes volunteers and greatly values the essential support that they provide. Whether you’re interested in becoming a Docent, or helper with the annual I Love My Gallery Auction, or have other unique skills to share with Gallery Stratford, you are a welcome addition to our Art Space.
In this close knit community of Stratford we are very fortunate to have a curious, engaged and committed art audience who are ready and willing to assist in the presentation of the arts – whether by means of donations, or membership, or by volunteering time to assist in the presentation of exhibitions and events, giving tours to students and visitors, and assisting in the administration of the gallery.
In 2003 Wilfred and Ann Gregory created a fund at Gallery Stratford towards the creation of the Ann Gregory Volunteer Award. The award was established to recognize outstanding volunteer service, as Ann was to Gallery Stratford. In 2009, Gallery Stratford is pleased to recognize Janet McCarthy as the winner.
Volunteers work closely with Gallery staff to support and promote Gallery Stratford and its activities. Possible opportunities include:
Education Volunteers (Docent Programme)
Docents are responsible for conducting tours of the Gallery. They play a key role in guiding school groups and adult tours through exhibitions. Docents are required to participate in a training and orientation programme.
Special Events & I Love My Gallery Volunteers
These volunteers work closely with staff and board members to help with the Gallery’s Annual I Love My Gallery fundraising auction, exhibition openings and special events in various capacities – from the initial planning stages, to event day assistance and post event wrap-up.
Administrative Support
Administrative volunteers work closely with Administrative staff and assist with phone calls, programme registration, mailings, etc.
