Winter Break
Ages 6-12
Celebrate the joys of winter and post-holiday hurrah at Gallery Stratford! We will warm your creative minds with painting, drawing, sculpting and mixed-media activities.
Tuesday – Thursday, January 3 -6, 9am – 4pm
$35/day or $120/week Gallery Member, $40/day or $140/week  Non Member

Art Adventurers
Ages 4-6
Play with lines, shapes, colours, patterns, and textures using a variety of materials, such as paper, paints and clay.  At the same time, develop creativity, motor skills, and self-expression in this exciting and adventurous Saturday morning class.
6 weeks, Saturdays, 10-11 am
January 21 – March 3 (no class on February 11)

Silk-Screen Printing
Ages 7-12
Learn the basics of silk screening while improving your drawing, design and painting skills. Students will create hand-painted, hand-cut stencils and then print them using water based inks. Bring your own t-shirt, fabric or any flat surface – the Gallery will supply all the paper and ink required to create fantastic print media.
4 weeks, Tuesdays, 4:30-6pm
January 24 – February 14

Experimental Painting
Ages 7-12
This class will give students a fresh and innovative approach to the world of abstract painting. Starting with the basics of making their own paint, students will explore colour, composition and unique applications of their materials.
6 weeks, Wednesdays, 4:30-6pm
January 25 – March 7 (no class on February 1)

Cartooning
Ages 7-12
Students will learn to develop their narrative abilities through the use of pen and paper. Invent and draw creative characters under the guidance of professional illustrator, Todd Mulligan.
6 weeks, Thursdays, 7-8:30pm

P.A. Day
Ages 6-12
Enjoy a fun filled day of various art media and techniques!

Vive L’Affiche!
En Francais, 9-12 ans
In the late 1880’s, poster art took hold of the thoroughfares of Paris seemingly transforming the streets into art galleries. Vive L’Affiche, long live the poster, is a French Immersion class inspired by the vibrant colours, large scale imagery and striking characters of French poster art. Participants will enjoy creating their own l’affiche while speaking French!

Teens and Adults

Techniques for Fibre Artists
Expand your creative process to develop ideas for future projects. Students take part in a series of inspiring exercises using a variety of materials and techniques such as hand sewn signatures, picture weaving and felt to stitch from fibre artist, Wendy O’Brien.
6 weeks, Mondays, 7-8:30pm
January 23 – March 5 (no class on February 20)

Digital Camera in a Day
A great compliment to your new camera – Local photographer, Terry Manzo leads this one day workshop to provide guidance and confidence to better use your new (or old) digital camera. Terry has designed this all day event to help properly nurture your photography ambitions. Bring your own lunch.

Point & Shoot Session: Saturday, January 14, 10am – 3pm

SLR Session: Saturday, January 21, 10am – 3pm

Acrylic Painting: Post-War to Post-Mod
Explore the breakthrough of unconventional painting methods of the 20th century; cubism, fauvism, expressionism, ab-ex. Artist, Diana Hull Erb will inspire and guide participants to further their acrylic painting skills. Some painting experience required.
6 weeks, Wednesdays, 7-9pm
January 25 – February 29
$95 Gallery Member, $105 Non Member (plus HST)

Program Registration

All Gallery Stratford workshops, courses and group visits require advance registration, unless otherwise noted. Admission to lectures is available upon arrival, and entry is on a first-come, first-served basis.

In the event of course or workshop cancellation, registrants will be notified prior to the course start date and a full refund will be given. Participant cancellations are not refundable within two business days of the course start date.
