Come and have a creative break from school at Gallery Stratford. Each day your child can discover a new artistic medium through a variety of activities with their instructors and friends. Activities include the following:

Monday, Printmaking: This exciting and creative day will explore various printmaking techniques including mono and relief prints as well as photo transfer techniques. Projects will include collage, jewelry and a three dimensional accordion book. A fun way to express yourself in a creative art making environment. Lead by local artist Wendy O’Brien.

Tuesday, Large Scale Abstract Art: Often we don’t get the opportunity to work big…here it is. Abstraction allows us to view the world in fresh and exciting ways. This class will focus on creative and experimental drawing exercises, an exploration of techniques for abstracting from our everyday experiences, as well as looking at some things to consider when working on a large scale. Participants will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned through a series of engaging projects. Lead by artist Matt Schust.

Wednesday, Story Book Illustration: This full day of illustration will give young artists the opportunity to enter the world of book illustration by creating a visual representation of a story, or a character. Come to draw and have fun. Lead by local professional illustrator Todd Mulligan.

Thursday, Drawing: Come and explore drawing in a new way. Starting with drawing exercises to build movement and ability with simple drawing media, the young artist will learn to look at space, value, perspective, and compositional techniques including collage. Have fun and learn in this creative environment. Lead by past exhibiting artist Sarah Kernohan.

Friday, Animation: Come and learn to animate using two different techniques, flip book and sand animation. Make your own cartoons move with flip book animation. Create a series of images using sand and your own hands on a backlit piece of glass to create a short animated piece. Lead by local artist and animator Monica Eckert
