Class Visits

Gallery Stratford's school programs offer experiential and curriculum based opportunities for students to share ideas, collect new information and explore art in a gallery setting. Gallery Stratford welcomes thoughtful and creative energy as students become acquainted with visual arts.

Docent Led Exhbition Tour

Students in grades K-12 are guided through the current exhibitions by a Gallery trained docent. The role of the docent is to interpret, inspire and encourage students to look carefully at works of art. Utilizing visual thinking strategies, such as sharing ideas and open ended questions, the docent listens and accepts multiple points of view while refining students’ critical thinking skills.

Self-conducted class visits to Gallery Stratford can be accommodated; we do ask that they be booked in advance.

School Art Workshop

Enhance your class visit by participating in a hands-on workshop led by an art educator. Students will delve into professional art materials to create their own unique masterpieces based on the Ontario Arts, Mathematics, Science and Technology and Social Studies Curriculum. Through the creative process, a studio workshop activity is a valuable addition to your tour, reinforcing key concepts introduced in the galleries.
