Gallery Stratford has been collecting works of art since its inception in 1967 when it was The Rothman Art Gallery. The collection is comprised of a growing archive of 980 works that represent a diverse range in media and includes regional, national, and international artists. From the 1960s through to the 1980s, a major collecting focus was contemporary abstract painting. Other areas of emphasis have been works on paper and outdoor sculpture.  Among some highlights of the collection are works by William Ronald and Painters Eleven, photographs by Edward Burtynsky, and a major work by digital artist David Rokeby. Gallery Stratford continues to actively collect significant works of art in an effort to preserve the rich artistic creation in Canada. Works in the collection are featured in changing exhibitions throughout the year.
