Opening Reception Friday, December 1, 2017 from 7 - 9 PM

Artist Talk:  Thursday, February 8, 2018  7 PM

Jordyn Stewart is an emerging artist from the Niagara Region. She works predominately in video and performance, and her practice is influenced by the body’s relationship to spaces we inhabit. Stewart creates site-sensitive works, intersecting landscape interventions with playful narratives. Compulsory Figure is a 2 channel, HD video, that documents a figure skater, portrayed by Stewart, as she searches for untouched icy surfaces to skate on. The skater shovels her own rink, only as wide and tall as she is, and then proceeds to perform on it. The video shows the skater in preparation, as well as in execution, of her performance.

Stewart received her BA, Specialist in Art and Art History at the University of Toronto, joint program with Sheridan College. Stewart is currently an MFA Candidate at the University of Waterloo.
