"I stand in your wake, past the boat of time." ~ Carolyn Riddell

Raw Footage represents the culmination of painter/printmaker Carolyn Riddell’s decades-long relationship with the East, primarily Turkey and more recently, India. In a remarkable and passionate move, Riddell has created an installation of multimedia works for this exhibition in the quest to portray a profound artistic, spiritual, and cultural vulnerability, while presenting a defiant expansion against endemic borders. The exhibition reveals powerful relationships of memory, time, place, and ideology through the activation of contrasts and compressions that literally and metaphysically weave and transmit, make tangible, and compel beyond touch. Through the acts of stitching, tying/untying, layering, and fusing, Riddell offers us both the physical and the psychological raw footage of her intense journeys.
